This will be a wonderful time for our local non-profit provider community to interact directly with the City of New Orleans staff that are tasked with administrating public funding programs. In preparation for our meeing you can review the details below and please bring your specific organizational questions!

From the Office of Recovery and Development Administration:
The City of New Orleans, through Office of Recovery and Development Administration, announces the opening of the Registry of Non-Profit Organizations in 2009 to community based, not-for-profit organizations that implement programs and/or projects addressing priority housing, community development, and continuum of care needs. Only organizations certified on the Office of Recovery and Development Administration Registry of Non- Profit Organizations are eligible to receive funding under ORDA’s SuperNOFA (Notice of Funding Availability).

The purpose of the Registry is to ensure that applicants meet minimum eligibility requirements to receive federal and state grant funds through Office of Recovery and Development Administration for Program Year 2009 (January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009). Certification on the Registry does not guarantee funding for Program Year 2009. Applicants certified for eligibility on the Registry must successfully complete the SuperNOFA process to receive funding.

Registry applications are available from Office of Recovery and Development Administration at 1340 Poydras Street, 10th Floor beginning Monday, October 6, 2008. Suggested submission date October 31, 2008; Deadline to submit the Registry application is Friday, December 5, 2008. Completed Registry applications are due by 3:00 p.m.

Please submit to Office of Recovery Development and Administration, one (1) original and one (1) copy of your completed application packet.

Organizations interested in becoming a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) please email Barry Walton at bmwalton@cityfno.com for an application. A CHDO is a private nonprofit, community-based service organization whose primary purpose is to provide and develop decent, affordable housing for the community it serves. Certified CHDO’s receive designation from the City indicating that they meet certain HOME Program requirements and therefore are eligible for HOME funding. An organization does not have to be a CHDO in order to receive HOME funding.

For further information, please contact Jeanette Thomas-Allen at 658-4399 or Donna Pearson at 658-4347.
