America After 3PM Study
America After 3PM Study

The America After 3pm study shows that Louisiana is losing ground in making afterschool programs available and that fewer kids are in afterschool with unmet demand growing. Louisiana lags behind the rest of the nation in afterschool youth participation.

This data comes from the landmark America After 3PM study, conducted for the Afterschool Alliance and sponsored by the JCPenney Afterschool Fund. Read more here.

NORDcap Report
NORDcap Report

The NORDcap report is available!
In 2008 Afterschool Partnership commissioned a report on the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) which lead to the creation of the New Orleans Recreation Department Citizens Advisory Panel (NORDcap), a partnership of community organizations concerned and committed to providing a vision for NORD. NORDcap has put together a website that showcases their findings and provides recommendations for high quality, broad-based playgrounds, facilities, programs and services that create and enhance the quality of life in New Orleans for families and youth. The report is available here.

AYD & NOPD
AYD & NOPD

Afterschool Partnership was able to provide the Advancing Youth Development training for 30 NOPD officers this month. Working in coordination with the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation the training provided a one-day overview of Advancing Youth Development. Training evaluations showed an overwhelmingly positive response and we look forward to future opportunities to make AYD availalbe to officers. We applaud the NOPD’s commitment to developing better interactions between youth and the police.
