I hope to see you all on Wednesday, 1/28. Thanks, Shelley
Provider Meeting: Wednesday, 1/28/2009, 10:30am - noon and
NAA Host Committee Meeting: noon - 2pm
4319 Carondelet Street
At this month's meeting we will wrap-up our series on funding sources for afterschool with a talk presented by Gaye Mack of the Big Buddy Program, Baton Rouge. Gaye will provide practical advice and steps about how afterschool programs can fulfill Louisiana child care licensing requirements in order to be eligible for Child Care and Development fund subsidies through the Louisiana Department of Social Services.
We will also be extending our time together and providing lunch for those interested in serving on the National Afterschool Association Host Committee. Right after the monthly provider meeting, please stay for the first Host Committee meeting. All are welcome to help plan neighborhood site visits and coordinate local details for the national conference being held in New Orleans on April 1 - 4, 2009. For more details, please contact Dara at dlum@gnoafterschool.org.

We are excited to once again offer the full 30-hour Youth Worker training for New Orleans at no cost to participants. More than 30 local organizations have taken advantage of this incredible opportunity. Please consider for your staff and share this information with any Youth Worker with whom you are in contact.
The training will take place 3/16 - 20, meeting each day from 9am - 2pm. Space is limited for this extremely valuable training session so please return all applications (available at www.gnoaferschool.org) no later than 2/16.
Unified Summer Grants Application release date 1/26/2009 and
USG Bidders Conference: Friday, 1/30/2009
United Way of Greater New Orleans, 2515 Canal Street
The application for Unified Summer Grants Collaborative (USGC) will be released on Monday, 1/26 on the Afterschool Partnership website (www.gnoafterschool.org). This collaboration between United Way, Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Operation Reach, and the Partnership is entering its fourth year. USGC gives local organizations that program for youth during the summer months access to private funding through an one-application process.
The non-mandatory Bidders conference will give potential applicants the opportunity to receive an overview of the Unified Summer Grants application and technical assistance directly from collaborative members.
